Family and Consumer Sciences

Preparing students for life, leadership, and careers.

What is Family & Consumer Sciences?

Family and Consumer Sciences, also called FCS, is a class that teaches students important life skills they will use every day as adults. In FCS classes, students learn how to cook, manage money, understand nutrition, care for children, and explore careers.

FCS helps students make smart choices for their health, future, and overall well-being while preparing them for life after high school.

Why FCS Matters for College & Career Readiness

......

Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) helps students build real-world skills they will need for college, careers, and life. Through hands-on learning, students practice problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and leadership.

FCS courses help students explore career pathways, manage their time and money, and make responsible decisions. These skills prepare students to be confident, independent, and successful after high school.

FCCLA: The Student Organization for FCS

FCCLA connects to Family and Consumer Sciences by giving students chances to use what they learn in class through leadership activities, service projects, and competitions.
